I Have a Heart!

Once I saw this adorable project at The Idea Room, I just had to do it! It is a relatively simple craft--albeit incredibly time-consuming. I made it over the course of a few evenings while watching the chickiest of chick flicks (Twilight: Breaking Dawn, anyone?) and thought of it as multi-tasking!

The supplies included about a yard and a half of red felt (which I used to cut out a seemingly countless number of circles), a package of straight pins, and a hard foam heart wreath. I got it all at Michael's and JoAnn's using their weekly 40% off coupons so all in all this project cost about $8.50. Not bad! Now it is hanging over our bed--at least until I decide that's too cheesy!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We've been together for 7 Valentine's Days. And every single one of those we celebrated with Papa Murphy's heart-shaped goodness. Happy Day of Love to You!

Land of Da Bears, Home of Da Cubbies

We are lucky enough to have family in Chicago (the city, not the musical) and we decided it was time for a visit. Fresh off the flight, we dove right in to a deep dish pizza stalemate: Lou Malnati's vs. Giordano's. Later there was Superdawg, Al's Italian Beef, and Rick Bayliss's Frontera Fresco. We saw "The Bean" and the rest of Millennium Park, "Sue" and the rest of the Field Museum, and Nighthawks as well as the rest of the Art Institute of Chicago. Despite the biting windchill of February, we also took a walking architectural tour where we got a pretty phenomenal history lesson as well as access to buildings we wouldn't have otherwise.

"Okay, now make a silly face." We did this at least 10 times but Lil G just wouldn't cooperate. Now we're the ones that look like dorks. Who's laughing now?

My SIL and her family were the best hosts and tour guides and we are so grateful they let us stay in their home. We saw, did, and ate all that we possibly could within a week and we can't wait to go back for more!

Snowballs!

We had snow for a full week and it was gorgeous! The timing was amusing because Beau had just finished his first week of the new semester and he was already getting a week off because of the snow. Unfortunately, I work from home so it was business as usual for me. Boooo! He went out and got some amazing pictures for me so I didn't feel like I was missing out.

Is that why I sent him out? No, that wasn't it. He had cabin fever like I have never before encountered. School had just started so he had no backlog of homework or even a clear path to get ahead on it. I sent him on every little errand I could think of, including countless hikes to the grocery store for just one item, picking up a Redbox, taking out the trash, oh wait now take out the recycling...

He Said/She Said

I said: I keep wondering what we are going to do for our 1-year Anniversary getaway.
He responded with: I keep wondering what the new Xbox console will be like.

So that conversation was pretty much over.
